'Port Vila Community Christian School'
The school is based in Port Vila, reaching children from the slum and squatter areas. Like other developing countries, Vanuatu is seeing a population shift towards the capital city. Typically, the illusion is that people can find work and a better life. The end result is ever expanding slum communities with little or no income and insufficient land for adequate food gardens. The children have no hope for a good education or future; petty crime often becomes the easiest way to survive. Through an affordable education strategy we believe the situation can be turned around: students can work towards a good future and become valuable citizens in their community.
2009 has seen the development of our new facility - positioned strategically within the needy communities of north Port Vila.
'Bethany Community Christian School'
The school is located in the north of Efate Is. about 1½ hours’ drive from the capital. It is a school with a strong focus on serving its community and creates an active Christian witness into the region. The relatively isolated community is basically self sufficient, living off the land and maintaining crops to sell in Port Vila. This is a region with no major source of income. The future expansion of this school will include year 9 certification, and some form of small scale vocational training.
